Smokin Betty’s is a sure thing. You know you’ll get a good table, the place will be buzzing with laughter, and you’re definitely going to eat something great and drink something strong. Plus they’ve got outrageous burgers, including an over the top/just right Turducken Burger. Cue the food pics.
Tur.duck.en Burger: This monstrosity is a creation like no other with everything you’d want in a thanksgiving meal (on a bun) including homemade stuffing, southern style gravy, homemade cranberry sauce, and sweet potato ribbons. The meat patty (ground chicken and turkey melded together by a duck mousse) is a twist off the Frankenstein that is the Turducken (duck meat wrapped in chicken meat wrapped in turkey meat).
Fun fact! The sandwich has been on the menu since they opened in 2009 but sees some upgrades every once and a while (check out some throwback pics of it here). And even better, watch them make this thing in this video from the Food Network.
Known for their comfort food, Smokin Betty’s chef, Artt Ward, and owner, Sue Schlisman, work together to perfect the classics, but throw in some unique options for a twist. For example, they’ve got everything from a hot turkey platter (the ultimate holiday classic) to these crazy good braised short rib tacos (a frequent Betty’s special).
We had to show you a pic of these bad boys, not because the picture is all that great, but because they taste outrageously good and we want you to eat them: Braised Short Rib Tacos with fried shallots, melted chedder, chili aioli, a homemade cherry tomato salsa and avocado. Plus, there is a braised short rib entree on their new menu if you can’t get enough.
Fun fact! Boulder Brewing Company even named a beer after them. Boulder already had an existing beer called the Sweaty Betty Blonde when Smokin Betty’s approached them with a collaboration idea. The general manager, Emily, worked out the deal and keeps the drink scene at Betty’s pretty fresh.
